A Cantonese export lacquer tea caddy in a curvate shape, standing on four dragon feet. The exterior lavishly decorated with battle scenes, painted in two gold tones. Containing two engraved pewter compartments for tea with double lids and bone knob. Condition: one foot with small loss, partially lacquer painting with wear, few small chips. Dimension: 24.5 cm x 18.5 cm, 14.8 cm high, weight: 1700 g.

A front Mandarin square dating from the second half of the 19th century. An insignia for an imperial censor, showing the white mythical beast "xiezahi" or "xiezhi" with its dragon head and single horn. Standing on a rock above deep water, the ground with auspicious emblems. Made of silk tapestry (kossu, k'o-suu) with metallic threads and painted details. An original Japanese color woodblock print in the oban yoko-e size by Utagawa Hiroshige I (1797 - 1858). The print "Sunset at Nojima Island" from the very rare (as stated by Basil Stewart) series "Eight views of Kanazawa", published 1835-6 by Koshimura Heisuke. Condition: good impression.
