A short dagger carried for self-defense, formerly used by men and women of th samurai class. The unsigned blade is in "hira zukuri" form with beautiful wave-like "hamon". The handle encased with shark skin and the lacquer "saya" with aventurine. Condition: blade with traces of time, shark skin with few imperfections. Dimension blade: 10 cm long, total length: 19.6 cm, weight: 102 g.

An original color woodblock print in the oban size by the Shin Hanga artist Tsuchiya Koitsu (1870-1949). Signed and sealed, right margin with title and dated December 1938. Left margin with Baba Nobuhiko publisher seal, printer and carver seal of Sato and Ikeda, on the verso with stamp of Tokyo Hangain. Lower margin with printed title in English and upper left-hand corner with watermark.
