Japanese Tonkotsu with Shibayama Manju.
An octagonal tobacco case made of wood, the front side depicting an oni demon holding a gong and a striker, plastically inlaid in ivory. The back side with two tablets, one with an engraved oni and the other signed "Ichiraku", an artist active mid 19th century. The ivory manju inlaid in different metals with the lucky god Daikoku holding a box with a rat on top. Further inlays in coral and malachite. Signed on a mother-of-pearl tablet "Shibayama". Unsigned ivory ojime with dragon. Condition: lost gong inlay, the edges of tonkotsu with cracks, now with old metal clasps reinforcement, the manju with few tiny rim chips. Dimension: tonkotsu: 9.6 cm x 7 cm x 4.2 cm, manju diameter: 4.4 cm. CITES documents are obtained if required (1 to 2 weeks in Switzerland).
