Japanese Brocade Furniture Cover w. Family Crest, Edo

A fragment of a yutan (furniture cover), the brocade with orange brown ground showing the design in rows of five-clawed dragons alternating with clouds. Woven in polychrome silk and silvered strips of paper. With applied Japanese family crest roundel of triple hollyhock, worked in silk with couched gold threads. With undyed linen lining and the longside with loops. Condition: the crest with missing application (circle), three larger and some small holes, partially little wear and fading. Dimension: 179 cm x 45 cm.
