Ceramic human figures are represented by the Chorrera people with rounded, full volume forms with minimum anatomical details. This figure stands tall, approx 12.5 inches! The broad head has a plain, tight fitting cap, the facial features are simply modeled however seem to be re-constructed. The pierced earlobes are very common on Ecuadoran figures and as in this example has ear spools. A nice little squat cylindrical vase from El Salvador. Dates to approx 650-950 A.D. This vase is standing on three nubbin feet, having slightly flared body with in-curled neck and straight rim. Painted with two seated figures, each facing left, filler elements separating. Minor paint loss, a few stable cracks. Rare size, 2-1/2”H., 2-1/2”D.

Here you find a small polychrome pottery bowl of the Mayan culture. Dates to approx. 500 AD. This vase is decorated on the exterior with two turkey vultures and on the upper rim border with geometric elements. Mineral deposits on the surface. A 2” interior rim chip, otherwise intact. Measures 4-1/2”D. x 2-1/2”H.

Here you find an ancient Mayan antiquity that dates to approx 250 to 800 AD. This vessel is an orangeware pottery cylinder having an incised depiction of two lords seated in front of simple stylized alters or offering tables. A triangular 4” area of the rim, extending down 2-1/2” is a restoration. A tiny hole is also present as seen in the photo (midway in the wall of the cylinder) otherwise intact and lovely. Here your find an exquisite Moche IV owl head ceramic from Peru. Dates to circa 450 - 550 AD. This very fine avian effigy vessel measures 10-1/2" in height and is sculpted with good attention to detail, attesting to the master skill of the ancient Moche. In Moche folklore the owl represented the spirits of the dead, wisdom, vision and the moon. In this example the face is expressive and enhanced with reddish paint. Here you find a very fine Vicus orangeware pottery figural vessel, depicting a bound and kneeling prisoner. This figure has the typical hook nose and large eyes found in much of the vicus pottery. Also has a small rear spout and bridge handle with mineral deposits on much of the surfaces. Dates to circa 100 BC and measures 7.75 inches in height. Here you find an Ancient Jama Coaque of an old Shawman. This figure dates to approx 350 BC. Ceramic figurines and vessels in this shape of human form are representative of the Jama Coaque culture. It developed around the San Isidoro sector in the North of the Manabi province in Ecuador. It is well preserved with growth deposits however there are some losses. Extremely large Narino pedestal bowl with nice red-on-black resist design. Has growth deposits on the surface with some pitting. It is a Museum deaccession with number etched on base. This ancient bowl was most likely manufactured by the Capuli whose settlement was situated in the Guaitara River basin. Measures 9 inches in diameter!

This is a lovely Nazca vase with brown, orange and reddish colour remaining. The design on this bowl is of the San Pedro cactus. Intact said for small chips on the bowl as seen in the pictures. It measures 6" in diameter.

Here you find an very large Moche IV-V figural vessel in the form of a drum. It depicts a stylized feline head painted on the side representing the the spirit of the drum. The emanation from the feline's mouth represents it's voice crying out from the spirit world. Very large piece that measures 10 1/4" high.
