Here you find a beautiful ancient calcite hand. Has three holes for pegs (similar to wooden hands affixed to coffins). This would be a man's hand with very good detail on all five fingers. Small chip on tip of thumb. Has some glue on the back as was on a modern mount. Dates to the 1st to 4th century AD. Measure 4.25 inches in lenght.
A nice "dummy" or "false" limestone canopic jar! Shows nice workmanship even though the tradition of using Canopic jars for the organs started to cease by this period as the organs were being wrapped and placed back into the body. Sometimes these "dummy" Canopic jars were placed in a Canopic box and other times they were placed within holes in the floor. We are pleased to offer this very interesting ancient alabaster egg from Egypt. This egg was most likely part of a larger vessel or offering piece. Intact and measure 5.3 cm in length with some deposits and pitting of surface.
