Here you find a fine early Roman mould made oil lamp with voluted nozzle. On the discus we find a Roman Gladiator facing left. He is wearing a tied waistband, loincloth and on his head a crested helmet. In his right hand he carries a short sword, and in his left he holds a shield. Size; 8.8cm x 6.5cm. In good condition, intact with some wear and deposits.
Here you find a lovely ancient roman bowl or dish in terra sigilata. Dates to circa 1st century AD. The red glazed dish has two incised circles in tondo within a ring of incised hatch marks. Measures 7 inches in diameter.
We are pleased to offer another lovely mouldmade ancient oil lamp. Brown in colour with a portrait of Jupiter or Jove cloaked in drapery . Dates to circa the 1st century A.D. Measures 6 1/2 inches in length. Intact and in excellent condition!
Lovely mouldmade lapm made of red clay with red slip. Convex lower part, flat top and depressed disk with the image of a Kantharos and vine. Channel running between the disk and nozzle. There are circles interchanged with squares on the shoulder and a tongue style handle at rear. Only one fill hole present and in great condition. Measures 5.5 inches in length.
Here you find a mouldmade ancient oil lamp. Convex lower part and flat top. In concave disk, a vertical figure of a bird most likely a dove. There is a channel running from the rim to the top of the flat nozzle. On the shoulder we find a vine like pattern. Slight carbon traces and growth deposits still present. Measures 6 inches in length.
Another well constructed mouldmade ancient Roman oil lamp. Made of red clay and slip or 'red slip" these lamps were mostly produced in North Africa (most likely Tunisia) during the 4th century. This style was very popular and produced throughout the Mediterranean. A well preserved oil lamp with a theater mask on the right side and person in profile on the left. Ancient Roman lamp with elegant volute spout and arching handle. In tondo we find the image of a Swan however slightly rubbed. Good growth deposits and intact. Measures 5.25 inches in length.
Ancient roman oil lamp with lug handles, deep concave disk in volute style. "Planta Pedis" stamped on the bottom. Nice Orange/Brown colour and intact. Measures 3 inches in length. Most likely of North African manufacture and dates to the 1st century A.D.
