Ancient Mayan Dignitary Vase from Central America circa 550-950 A.D. A beautiful decorated, Copador type, polychromed pottery cylinder having an upper stylized glyph band and wide lower band containing four seated chiefs with legs depicted in various positions. Each is wearing a plumed headdress and ornate jewellery. A couple of minor rim chips and a surface scratch on one chief, otherwise intact. Has some nice mineral deposits on the surface.
