Late 18th C. Tibetan-Mongolian Bronze Machig Labdron
Late 18th C. Mongolian gilded bronze Machig Labdron statue. H 13" x W 9" x L5". 8lbs. Superb metal work; bronze with gilding and painted flaming mandorla (red). Face is done with cold gold and paint. This statue truly has "life" to it and has a beautiful, dynamic quality of movement. Machig Labdron is one of the greatest female saints of Tibetan Buddhism and was responsible for perpetuating the Chod lineage of tantric practice.
