The other side in French Inches to Miles or Versies, Centimeters to Kilometers, rotating disc at base corresponds to movable needle, measuring distance on maps. Measuremants: 3"x 1 1/8" Condition is excellent.
World War II US Artillery Compass manufactured for the Army by The KALART Company, comprising textured painted metal with applied enamel brass label marked COMPASS, M2, NO. G.H.D. THE KALART COMPANY INC. STAMFORD CONN, no serial number. Opens to reveal bubble for checking level and sighting mirror. Measurements: 3"x 2 3/4"x 1 1/4" Excellent condition with minor flaking.
This is rare Art Deco stylized horn dog head-form mounted opener having a finely hand carved dachshund head and glass eyes, brass banded on a steel shaft attached to a steel bottle opener, hound head most likely made of rhinoceros horn, marked on the inside of the opener D Lund Co, Pat Nov 7,'33, Made in USA; very good condition. We like the old patina but may need cleaning, minor rust.
