Now without a frame, this double sided stylized oval shaped Czechoslovakia glass cut bead design is composed of richly colored purple plum, lavender, gold, bronze, brown and charcoal black floral bouquets on tree limbs made up of horizontal and vertical rows of bead work, original brown silk lining, beaded fringe. Vintage Folk Art Chinese silk doily embroidered with good luck symbols of butterflies and bats and a centered peony, framed in a black linen border with gray silk binding in period shades of green, purple and hot pink, natural linen backing, easily opens to make a pillow if desired. This mid 19th century folk art crazy quilt is a wonderful mix of richly colored silks and hand embellished surface stitches. The back is a green cotton sateen fabric tied with floss. Eighty seven silk tags create a whimsical border around the entire piece. Taken from a house used as part of the Underground Railroad during the Civil War, we believe this piece was the energetic work of a child learning how to sew.
