This beautiful brooch of sterling silver set with sparkling marcasites is not only romantic but a very high quality jewel, intricately detailed. It measures almost 2 inches from feathers to tip and would be a delightful expression of affection for any gal who loves Art Deco jewelry.
Condition of the piece is lovely and probable dating would be around 1930, based on the 925 hallmark. The word sterling would more likely have appeared in the 1920s. By American 75-year standards, it will very soon be antique rather than merely vintage, if it isn't already.

This early 20th century pendant is a spectacular example of the icy white-on-white look so fashionable during the Edwardian era and immediately thereafter. Carved rock crystal had been used in earlier Victorian jewelry, but it took on a very different air when frosted, set in white metals, rather than Victorian gold or gilt, and given the Edwardian refinements of cutwork and millegrain detail.
The style persisted through transitional and early Art Deco years, and this pendant strikes me as slightly post-WWI. Its geometric shape suggests Art Deco, although it does have Edwardian-style cutwork and millegraining. It also has a lovely load of rivoli-cut marcasites (technically hematites) and a small diamond accent. Made of silver (stamped sterling) with richly patinated recesses, it measures about an inch wide and 1.75 inches tall. There's a lot of heft to it. Condition is lovely, as you see, and provenance is a Midwestern estate.
Jewels of this type are so beautiful that they're widely copied now, both in rock crystal and camphor glass. Even the replicas are valuable, but of course it's much nicer to have the real thing.

Here's a jewel as Art Deco as the Chrysler Building! Sleek and strongly geometric, the 2-inch drop has a pattern of enameled blue and white diamonds at the base, plus a faux-sapphire cut in pyramid shape.
Obviously this is an Egyptian Revival piece, from the era when King Tut's treasures first dazzled the world in the 1920s - so its dating is antique, not merely vintage. Despite great age, condition is lovely; it takes high magnification to notice wear to either the crystal or the bright silver metal (which appears to be rhodium or chromium, one of those high-shine, easy-care metals from the platinum family). The 18-inch chain is almost certainly a later addition, but an excellent match. Provenance is a Wisconsin estate.

Besides a mounting in classic skyscraper shape, this marvelous Art Deco ring has a stone of towering proportions: a radiant chyrsoprase about 3/4" tall and cut in a fancy domed shape. Overall size of the ring is a knuckle-covering 1 3/8" x 5/8". Twenty-two marcasites add extra sparkle.
Probable dating would be 1920's, since even the back and shank are so beautifully detailed. The metal is sterling, hallmarked as such, and condition of the piece is superb, showing age-appropriate surface wear only under high magnification. Current size is about a 5, easily adjusted by your jeweler, since the rear of the band isn't ornamented. Provenance is a West Coast estate.

Attention, dot.commies, here's an incredible pair of Art Deco Russian cufflinks complete with sickle marks within stars. They're also marked '875' and with the letter 'P' and '6RK'(with the 'R' backward). I was told they were made around 1930 and the design supports that view. The stylized Greek key mountings are of lovely silver set with fabulous amber stones, possibly the rare and fine 'milk and honey' type from Siberia. Cufflink fronts measure about 1/2" X 5/8" and have chain connectors to rectangular decorative feet.
Condition of the set is, as you see, excellent. Provenance is a West Coast estate. You'd have to look a *very* long time for anything comparable to these!

You couldn't hope for a jewel more purely Art Deco than this ring, with its towering and highly dimensional shape that's a cross between a mummy case and a skyscraper, a zillion original marcasites and a luscious fancy-cut chrysoprase stone so vivid it practically glows in the dark. Certainly it dates from the 1920s, when King Tut's tomb was discovered and an exhibition of its treasures took the world by storm.
Condition of the ring is fantastic, provenance is a West Coast estate and current size is a US 4 - 4 1/2 (easily adjusted by your jeweler, since the ring's shank isn't ornamented). It measures a knuckle-covering 1 1/4" x 5/8". Alongside its Sterling hallmark on reverse, there's the mark of a master jeweler: namely Vincent Sorrentino, an Italian immigrant who formed Uncas Manufacturing Company in Rhode Island in 1911. The turn of the 20th century in America attracted many talented artisans from Italy, who were instrumental in the development of the American jewelry industry, both fine and costume. The Uncas "U" between two arrows (Sorrentino's early logo) features here.
If you're also in the market for superlative chrysoprase earrings, we have a pair to die for, as well as a very nice chrysoprase bracelet. We can work out special pricing, if you want more than one piece. Please e-mail to confirm availability, order or request more photos. Thanks so much for looking!

Quintessentially Art Deco, this stunning antique pendant is of ornately detailed sterling silver, set with marcasites and as a large (1/2" square) bevel-edged chysoprase stone. Fashioned in two parts, with the lower drop free-swinging, the lavliere measures about 1 3/4" by 7 /8", is hallmarked Sterling and dates circa 1920 - 1925.
Showing only age-appropriate surface wear under high magnification, the piece is in superb condition apart from loss of its original chain (probably the paperclip type). The present chain, about 18" long, is a nice match but a little later and unmarked.

Occasionally design currents converge in perfect harmony and this pendant is a wonderful example. Although a Deco piece in its streamlined look and dating (probably circa 1925-1930), its curvy teardrop shape evokes Art Nouveau and a clear Arts & Crafts influence shows in gorgeous workmanship and the bezel-set cabochon stone.
According to the prior owner, the stone is a lapis; however, it could be sodalite, which is also brilliantly blue. The metal is hallmarked sterling silver. Provenance is a New England estate and condition, apart from loss of its chain, is superlative.

You want the *ultimate* Art Deco earrings? Here they are - as Deco as the Chrysler Building! Exquisitely crafted of sterling silver and chrysoprase, they're of skyscraper form and enormous - 2 1/2" tall. Provenance is a Los Angeles estate and I'll bet dollars to donuts these beauties were worn on at least one Oscars Night in the 1920s.
Investment-grade High Art Deco pieces like this don't come along very often and can only become more rare. So seize the day!

This very elegant set consists of a beautiful ring with marcasites and a 3 CT emerald-cut aquamarine, plus earrings with round brilliant-cut aquamarines of about 1 CT each. The stones have good vivid color, as you see, and those with saturated color are the most valuable. Given the age of these pieces, there's a strong likelihood the stones weren't even heat-treated to improve color, as is routinely done today. Aquamarine, BTW, is the birthstone for your loved ones born in March and healers use it to foster courage and provide protection. Sterling silver mountings set off these aquamarines as prettily as white gold or platinum would - and at a fraction of the cost. Current ring size is about a 7, easily altered to fit since the back of the band isn't ornamented.
