Like all our pearl strands and sets, these are the real thing: genuine SALTwater cultured pearls - not the cheap freshwater kind. This gorgeous estate pearl necklace from a Midwestern estate is in superb condition and measures 20" (so is at the intersection of princess and matinee lengths). If you like, you could have the two strands restrung as a single strand even greater than opera length - or in the open-ended 40" rope style called a sautoir - or as a choker plus a matinee length strand. There'll be plenty of pearls to play with! I counted 151 in the two necklace strands and 87 in the matching bracelet.
Very well matched for color, these creamy white pearls are easy to identify as genuine, because each has its own slightly unique shape.
I personally like to see a little irregularity of shape - besides which pearls that come quite close to round are rare and of course cost the earth. As with all quality pearl necklaces, each bead of this strand is individually hand-knotted and a proper filigree pearl clasp is provided. This strand closes with a particularly nice clasp marked 14/20, which signifies 20k surfacing atop the underlying 14k gold. Instead of the traditional navette shape, it's a bold rectangle, almost square, which suggests a Retro dating (circa 1935-1950). An identical clasp features on the matching three-strand bracelet. Bead sizing is slightly graduated on the necklace, ranging from about 6mm to 8mm. The bracelet pearls are all at the larger end of that spectrum and individually knotted with very tiny knots.
This set represents exceptional value compared to new pearls, even those offered by online discounters. Frankly they're priced so low because people don't seem to know the difference between quality pearls and freshwater junk anymore, so they've been in stock way too long. Thanks for looking!

As you know if you follow fashion news, classic pearls have made a *huge* comeback, so this luxuriously long pearl necklace will be a fabulous asset to your day and evening wardrobe. It's comprised of 76 genuine cultured pearls. New strands of this bead size and length are extremely pricey. Even an online discounter cites a price range from about $1100 to $2500, depending on quality, so ours are quite a bargain at $650.
The pearls here are nicely round, have a rich luster and seem fairly well-matched for color - in that creamy champagne shade that's more flattering to people with darker complexions than silver-white. Each bead is individually knotted, another indication of high quality. Condition of the pearls looks fine, but restringing soon wouldn't be a bad idea; the cord is stretched a bit here and there. It's wise to have fine pearls restrung every year or two, anyway.
The design of the white gold clasp suggests a dating circa 1940-1950, but they could be a little earlier or later. Provenance is a Las Vegas estate, so imagine what stories they could tell!

This pearl necklace, like all our pearl strands and sets, is the real thing -- made of genuine salt water cultured pearls (not the cheap freshwater kind) -- and it's an unbelievable value right now. From a Midwestern estate, the necklace is of matinee length and in excellent condition. The 78 pearls are slightly graduated, ranging from around 6 to 8 mm (most at the larger end of that spectrum) and very well matched for color: a beautiful creamy white. They have good luster and to me are eye clean, with some inevitable blemishes evident under high magnification. It's easy to tell these pearls are genuine, since the shape of each is unique. I personally like to see a little irregularity of shape, besides which perfectly round pearls are so rare they cost the earth.
As with all quality pearl necklaces, each bead in this strand is individually hand-knotted. The necklace also features a particularly luxurious filigreed pearl clasp of traditional navette shape. It's marked 14/20, which signifies 20k gold surfacing atop the underlying 14k gold.

New cultured pearl necklaces of this bead size and length are extremely pricey, as you may know. Even an online discounter cites a range from about $1100 to $2500, depending on quality - so this luxuriously long strand of pearls is a steal. They're genuine salt water cultured pearls, 76 of them, with a white gold clasp that suggests a Retro dating (circa 1940-1950) and their provenance is a Las Vegas estate.
Not being a jeweler, I can't assess quality as thoroughly as a professional would, but these gems appear to be nicely round, with a rich luster, and fairly well-matched for color. They're of the creamy champagne shade that's more flattering to people with darker complexions than silver-white. The beads are individually knotted, another indication of quality. Condition of the pearls looks fine, but restringing soon wouldn't be a bad idea; the cord is stretched a bit here and there. It's always a smart idea to have pearls restrung every few years, anyway.
