This excellent antique engraving of our Pilgrim forebears leaving England for America was produced in Victorian times. It's signed "Pearson. S(?) C." and an inscription in pencil on the backing paper reads: "Pilgrim Father for America 1620 Ink Engraved 1874." Also written on the back is "Dalartum" (or "Dalantum"), presumably the framing company.
The frame is really marvelous; it looks like coromandel wood and the textured gray mat is obviously hand-detailed. Our image barely suggests the fine quality of this piece, which measures about 11 1/8" x 9 1/4" and was acquired in East Anglia.
Thanks for looking!
