Sold; thank you!

This beautiful 22" necklace features ancient mummybeads and an udjat (protective amulet) in the form of a winged scarab. The antiquities are well over 2000 years old, dating circa 600 to 300 BCE. The mummy beads and amulet are of faience, powdered quartz which was a precursor of glass.

To create this strand (which of course has a modern clasp), beads were selected for their beauty and symmetry and hand-strung along with a scarab amulet representing the god Kepri in flight. The scarab is 1" tall with a wingspan of 2 1/4". Its front retails very nice details and vestiges of original glaze. Its reverse is plain.

Original certificate of authenticity issued by the antiquities dealer from whom this item was purchased will be furnished to the next owner.

Mummy bead earrings to complement the necklace, also with sterling silver findings, are available for only $25. Please e-mail erinharris@comcast.net to request more photos or place your order. Thanks for looking!

This beautiful 18" necklace features disc- shaped mummybeads and an udjat (protective amulet). The antiquities are well over 2000 years old, dating circa 600 to 300 BCE. The mummy beads and amulet are of faience, powdered quartz which was a precursor of glass.

To create this strand (which of course has a modern clasp), beads were selected for their beauty and symmetry and hand-strung along with an amulet representing the "sound" eye of the falcon-headed god Horus (actually the "sound" eye of the falcon-headed god Horus). It's considered the most famous and powerful of all ancient Egyptian protective amulets. According to Egyptian myth, Horus' eye was plucked out in battle with Seth, who murderered his father, Osiris. Horus was subsequently cured by Thoth and his eye gained such healing power that it restored life to Osiris (reference: Carol Andrews, "Amulets of Ancient Egypt").

Original certificate of authenticity issued by the antiquities dealer from whom the artifacts were purchased will be furnished to the next owner.

There's no charge for insured U.S. shipping and gift wrap is also free on request.
