From old store stock, never worn, this gorgeous vintage ring is typical of the style favored by "flower children" of the late 1960s. It's an excellent Art Nouveau Revival piece with graceful, curvy lines and beautiful enamelwork in shades of violet, mauve, sage and silvery gray. Being richly surfaced with high-carat gold and set with diamond rhinestones of restrained size, it's a pretender good enough to fool anybody but a jeweler -- thus suitable to wear with fine jewelry, not merely on occasions when you'd rather not worry about protecting the real thing (when traveling, for instance).

Currently about a US size 6, it can be easily altered up or down, since the back of the shank is plain. It's like-new condition makes it a particularly wonderful gift item. The face is an inch tall and the shape is highly dimensional, so this is a ring with a lot of presence, looking far more expensive than it is.

In mint condition from old store stock, never worn, this fabulous vintage Bijoux Cascio brooch is a whopper, measuring just under 3 x 2 inches. The size would be more precise in centimeters, given that it comes from Europe. The company was established in Italy during 1948 and lasted about 40 years, accessorizing famous designer lines including Pucci and Capucci.

This jewel most likely dates from the 1960s or 1970s, when people began collecting old carousel horses and fancy equine motifs were all the rage. As you see, shimmering black and green enamelwork sets a most dramatic mood here, accentuated by exceptionally brilliant gold plating and sparkling Swarovski crystals of tourmaline pink, topaz blue and peridot green, plus a clear diamante eye. With this mix of colors, it will go beautifully with almost anything. Highly sculptural, the piece rises more than half an inch above the back. There's an abundance of textural interest, too, and obviously its like-new condition makes this beauty highly giftable. The Bijoux Cascio mark appears on its richly gilded reverse, in an oval cartouche.

There's no charge for insured U.S. shipping and gift-wrap is also free whenever desired. Please e-mail erinharris@comcast.net to confirm availability, order or request more photos. Thanks for looking!

If you have a blue party outfit, here are the perfect earrings to go with it. If you don't, these may persuade you to get one! Each opulent earring is dominated by two emerald-cut sapphire crystals and four teardrops, with accents of sparkling diamond white -- and, besides the intense color story, there's lots of action. The drops will sway on their diamante chains with your every motion.

In all respects including size, these earrings are outrageously glamorous. When they were made in the 1930s or 1940s, film stars had first begun to set popular taste and their luxurious jewels were duplicated best of all by the Czechs. The nation was Bohemia prior to World War I, remember, and they had centuries of expertise in creating and setting the finest glass gems. These all appear to be original and the earrings are in good-as-new condition, thanks to some recent work to shore up vulnerable points. The dots of solder on the reverses aren't actually repairs, but preventive strengthening measures undertaken to prevent potential damage. If the little areas showing a color difference bother you, it would be easy to dab on a bit of liquid leaf or gilding paste. I'd have done that, but didn't want to conceal anything. The prior owner also had the old clip fasteners replaced by posts, which most of us would consider an improvement.

The earrings reached us from a Palm Springs estate -- no surprise, in light of their quality. The maker, Husar D, was obviously a high-end firm.

The end of World War II witnessed a major renascence of fashion. After the privations of wartime and the 1930s Depression, women were ready for glamor and femininity again -- and costume jewelry makers responded with some of the prettiest designs of the 20th century.

These charming vintage earrings are an excellent example of the mood: an update of the traditional crescent moon form, featuring stylized modernist lines, engraved details at the base and luscious pearls that may be real. Cultured sea pearls did appear often on high-quality costume jewelry of the era and these feel somewhat rough against the teeth, instead of smooth like glass. They also show minor variations in size and color and they're carefully prong-set. Since they haven't been examined by a jeweler, however, we're pricing the earrings as if the stones are simulated.

The gold surfaces have a real look, too, although they're plated. The golden hue is subtle, not a bit brassy; it's very much like electrum (an alloy of gold with silver). This color is extremely difficult to photograph, somewhat paler than it appears here.

Size is not quite an inch tall and about half an inch wide, condition is lovely (showing only slight surface wear under high magnification) and provenance is a Midwestern estate.

There's no charge for insured U.S. shipping (with an equivalent discount for our international customers) and gift-wrap is always free when desired. Please e-mail to confirm availability, order or request more photos. Thanks for looking!

Want to be the center of attention at your next big party? Wear these and you'll steal the show!

This is frankly the most astounding pair of rhinestone earrings that I've EVER seen. Fixed arcs of brilliants surround the giant wing shapes and sparkling dangle drops cascade all around, two layers deep at the bottom. Imagine the dazzle when they're all in motion!

The sculptural, supershine metalwork must be of chromium or rhodium, both hard-wearing, tarnish-free lookalikes for platinum, because they're all in the same family of minerals. As you see, the settings are exquisitely made.

Size is a whopping 2 3/4 inches from top to bottom and 1 1/4 inches wide, provenance is a Midwestern estate and probable dating would be 1945-1955, with clip backs right for the period. Their condition is immaculate -- perhaps because the prior owner never dared to wear them. Certainly they're fit for a film star: real Glamor Goddess stuff sure to turn all heads your way.

As the holiday season approaches, it's time to think rhinestones. Keep a pair of dazzling earrings in your purse and you'll always be party-ready.

This classic pair by Coro will add a properly festive note to anything from jeans up. At an inch round, they aren't overwhelming, but the domed shape allows for quite a load of rhinestones -- certainly more than 100, all told. Sizes vary somewhat, for the pave effect; however, most are quite large. A few are probably later replacements, as is almost inevitable with vintage earrings of this form. What little metalwork is visible is bright silvery-white, probably rhodium or chromium, one of those hard-wearing cousins of platinum. The metal remains brilliant on the reverses, as well, requiring high magnification to note slight wear. These must have been kept for special occasions and stored carefully. The fasteners are clips, as is right for the period, and each has the Coro signature in script. Provenance is a West Coast estate.

This gorgeous rhinestone and pot metal bow brooch is antique or very nearly so, by American 75-year standards. It's exactly the sort of jewel that ladies favored in the 1930s, when the flat look of Art Deco gave way to dimensionality and film stars dripping with diamonds set the taste. The Depression was still on, though, so lesser mortals made do with loads of rhinestones.

Of truly important scale, more than 3 inches wide and 2 inches tall, this brooch is big enough to command attention even on a coat or cape. It would also look fabulous pinned to a ribbon choker or in your hair. It's paved with faceted round rhinestones, of which there must be close to a hundred. Age-appropriate surface wear is apparent on reverse, but the front is pretty close to perfect. Here the metalwork is quite bright, apparently surfaced with rhodium or chromium, the hard-wearing cousins of platinum. A few stones may be later replacements, but they're all well-matched for color. Provenance is a Dallas area estate.

Rhinestone brooches of similar age and scale are offered elsewhere for as much as $500, so ours is a steal -- and would make an extremely impressive gift. For further savings, there's no charge for insured U.S. shipping and gift-wrap is always free when desired.

Want a bracelet as Art Deco as the Chrysler Building? Here's one that's sure to win raves, whenever you wear it -- a boldly sophisticated cuff about 1.5 inches wide and highly dimensional. It's fashioned of superb brass, very weighty stuff, which is what allowed it to survive in such marvelous condition.

The outer surface gleams, having been polished through the years, but the rich patina within its decorative recesses and on the reverse firmly attests to great age. Dating between 1925 and 1935, the bracelet is most likely French, although we found it in London. Art Deco design, in France, was called Moderne. Since it can be widened or squeezed at will (carefully, please), this jewel should fit just about anyone.

When polishing, you'll want to do so by hand with a cream, avoiding chemical dips that would strip the patina out of those wonderful radiator-like grooves.

This delightful vintage bouquet brooch was most likely crafted by its original owner. During the Depression and World War II years, women got very clever about creating their own accessories -- first because there was no money and then because most metals were commandeered for the war effort. The idea was to strike a note of cheer during dark times, so these items are usually very colorful. They're a treat to own, for that reason and because they're absolutely one of a kind. Needless to say, these pieces are also rare, since so many were tossed out when life got better.

Made to be attached with a corsage pin, our pretty bouquet brooch is of pastel pink and dark green raffia on wires wrapped with ecru-colored tape that looks original. It measures more than 3 inches in each dimension and is in great conditon, relative to age and the delicacy of the materials. Provenance is a Texas estate.

BTW, if this appeals to you, be sure to see our similar red poppy corsage brooch from the same source. If interested in both, please e-mail and we'll work out special pricing for the pair.

This delightful vintage poppy was most likely crafted by its original owner. Made to be attached with a corsage pin, our pretty poppy is wonderfully detailed. Stiffened crepe paper forms its petals and is the perfect texture and red-orange color to simulate the real thing. The flower's "innards" are likewise very convincing, made of raffia. Tiny leaves of green crepe paper top the stalk, which looks like it was re-wrapped with green florists' tape not long ago.

Total length is almost 7 inches, which further contributes to the garden-fresh illusion. Condition is marvelous, relative to the item's age and the delicacy of the materials. One teeny leaf may be missing. It would be easy to replace that, if you like, and you might want to steam the flower head lightly in order to reshape the petals for extra fullness; some are a little scrunched from storage. Provenance is a Texas estate.

BTW, if this appeals to you, be sure to see our similar pink raffia nosegay brooch from the same source. If interested in both, e-mail and we'll work out special pricing for the pair.
