These fabulous handmade earrings from a California collection are set with real amethyst, onyx and rose quartz. They aren't costume jewelry by any means, but we've listed them as such since they aren't of gold or silver. Definitely not for the faint-hearted, they're right for you, if you love jewelry with a show-stopping, eye-popping, extravagant look. From a top rosette of butterfly shape, carved brass feathers dangle to shoulder-skimming length, a little longer than four inches.
With all that's going on, you couldn't very well hang these from posts or earwires (ouch), so they have clip backs. The prior owner recalls purchasing them from a jewelry artist at Moro Bay around 1980, so they're at least that old. Condition is superb and, without a doubt, they're one of a kind.

This stunning vintage jewelry set would be a sensational gift for a performer or theatre buff. Applied to each copper panel of the linked bracelet and matching earrings are Tragedy and Comedy masks crafted in high relief from a contrasting metal (possibly silver, to judge from the tarnish). Although more likely stamped than hand-made, these jewels are of excellent quality and definitely from the Retro or Late Deco era, with original patina intact. Of course you could polish that off, if you prefer a brighter look. Earrings have screw backs right for the period and are 3/4" long. The bracelet measures 7 1/2" long and 5/8" wide, a good fit for the average wrist.

A whopping 3” long x 1-5/16” wide, these stunning copper earrings from a Chicago area estate are sure to be admired whenever you wear them. Though unsigned, they were obviously hand-crafted by an artist. Made in two parts, the lower segment of each earring swings from a pair of jump rings, they're set with 4 cabochon stones that look like amber. Gold colored wire beaten square(possibly real gold) ornaments the stones, which measure 11 mm round. Some sort of wash has been applied to the copper surfaces, to vary their color.
Such a unique item is impossible to date with precision, but I judge by the post backs that these earrings don't have a great deal of age. My guess is 1970s. Their condition is excellent.

This spectacular Deco brooch is a whopper, 2 1/4 inches round, set with sparkling diamond rhinestones of three different types. The baguettes form a pinwheel pattern among round stones in two sizes (big and bigger). All are prong-set and tight. A few are somewhat darkened with age, but this doesn't detract; actually the subtle color variety adds to the dimensionality of the dome shape. For its size, it's nicely lightweight, so you won't have to worry about damage to fabrics, and the safety clasp is in fine working order. BTW, I saw online a new brooch practically identical to this, priced at $175. Isn't it nice that the real thing can actually cost less than a knockoff?

I recently saw online a brand-new rhinestone brooch almost identical to this, but priced at $185! Why not pay $100 LESS for a genuine piece of the past that's sure to keep gaining value?
There's a sweet delicacy about this brooch that makes me think it dates no later than circa 1930. The airy openwork pattern shows Edwardian influence and the stones have a warm quality that suggests old paste rather than rhinestones. It's of medium size, measuring 1 1/4" round, featuring smaller stones set like spokes and an outer wheel around the central crystal. All of these are bright and seem tight in their bezel settings. The safety-clasp is also in great shape.

This vintage pin is a real dazzler, paved with beautifully cut crystals of excellent quality and substantial size - almost 2" x 1 1/4" (5 cm x 3 cm). Although acquired from the estate of a very elderly Englishwoman, this jewel looks French to me. The mix of geometric forms is extremely sophisticated. Note the oval outline and triangular ends, inset with stones of both rectangular and round shape surrounding that wonderful square-cut central crystal. There's exciting variety and yet stylistically the design holds together with perfect integrity. (In case you didn't notice, I find this jewel particularly yummy.)
Also of special interest is the gold-colored setting of what seems an essentially Deco design. White metals were of course a great deal more commonplace in Deco days, which inspired me to do some research and discover that aurora borealist crystals debuted in 1955. Thus, the jewel dates from the 1950s, rather than the 1930s, but who cares?
Condition is so immaculate that you'd actually think it's new, if you didn't know its provenance. Except on the pinstem assembly, under very high magnification, I can't find even slight signs of wear. And the yellow gold surface is not only unworn but extra-bright in hue, suggesting very high-carat plating. The reverse is interestingly pebbled.

Fancy jeweled shoes are making huge fashion news now. To get the look without breaking the bank, shoe clips are the answer. These Deco or Retro shoe clips are real dazzlers, with two rows of brilliant rhinestones all around. The elongated shape, a sort of rectangle with ears, is of course *very* Art Deco, so my best guess is that they date from the 1930s. A couple of the stones have slightly discolored with age - nothing severe enough to notice except upon close inspection. On your shoes, they'd look fine. These measure about 2" x 1". Clamps aren't hinged, but very sturdy. Overall quality is excellent; you probably can't tell from the photo, but the stones are all individually prong-set.

I recently saw online a new designer brooch almost identical to this Retro beauty, priced over $200. Its stones are also glass and the metal is plated, so the price difference isn't based on materials. Si what a great deal we're offering on the perfect jewel for anyone who loves aqua blue and the glamorous 1950s look!
Sparkling with the shades of a tropical seascape, this beautifully prismic vintage brooch features delicate metalwork that's pale gold in color, not a bit brassy. Despite being at least 50 years old, the jewel is in superb condition. Without extreme magnification, it doesn't even show slight wear on the reverse. Size is about 1 1/2 inches round and the seven gorgeously faceted stones are prong-set and open at the back for optimal brilliance.

This elegant cameo, almost surely from Italy, is a finely carved portrait of a beautiful lady -- with bobbed hair, which provides the Deco dating. Unfortunately, its setting isn't just right, so the piece is priced to allow for framing properly. If the mount were of hallmarked gold or silver, you could add at least a hundred dollars to this price, which is rock-bottom basement for any vintage cameo that's hand-carved (even ugly ladies, and this is a beauty). Size is about 1 1/4" tall.

Nothing says "La Dolce Vita" better than mosaic jewelry from Italy. It's as much associated with Rome as the Colosseum. A vintage mosaic pendant is a particularly wonderful find, since they're a great deal less common than brooches, earrings and even bracelets.
As you know, jewels of this type were eagerly collected by 19th and early 20th century travelers in Italy, who marveled at the intricacy of craftmanship. Here we see a beautifully detailed and vivid multi-colored rose bouquet set against a midnight blue background, all within a space not quite as big as a quarter. Condition of the pendant is lovely, with all tesserae (glass mosaic tiles) present. You'll notice from one of the photos how beautifully its surface catches the light. It's marked Italy on reverse and is certainly of Roman origin. The pretty rope twist frame may be unmarked gold but is more likely heavily gilded. It's marked Italy on the reverse. You could place it on a chain, of course, but it might be even more enchanting on a ribbon.
