Unmistakably Pre-Raphaelite, this antique print features one of those wistful beauties of the 19th century. It's a really beautiful piece, reproducing Marie Spartali Stillman's painting, "Cloister Lilies." I expect the print is somewhat larger than what we see, since the original has a book below the pink beads and has somewhat wider margins all around. You may want to re-mat it in order to show more.
The current mat is hand-lined and the frame also is hand-deocrated with penwork (a popular Victorian pastime)to present the illusion of a very fine-grained exotic wood. A modern claw for hanging is attached to the frame's leatherette backing, from which an easel mount formerly attached by old cloth tape was evidently removed. Framed measurements are about 10 3/4" x 12 3/4".

The title, "Unconquerable," shows at the bottom of this wonderful antique print. The image likely relates to the French Revolution - but, to me, it speaks of Indomitable Womanhood. So that it will make an even more powerful statement, we treated it to a luxurious mat that looks like bronze shantung silk. This print is at least 100 years old and comes from an English dealer in Lincolnshire. It will take any 9" x 11" frame that suits your decor.

This enchanting print, probably reproducing a 19th century pre-Raphaelite original, was published in 1908 and I don't think it's been out of this frame since then! While only minor dings exist on the front of the frame, an old oak one finished in Victorian green, its back clearly reveals antiquity in old paper and string tied between rusty hanging loops. The beautiful print, itself - a medievalist portrait of a beautiful lady - is in marvelous condition, with colors and details still perfectly vivid; the lighter areas you see in the photo are just reflections. The work's title is barely visible in a white area at the bottom of the print, where presumably the artist's name would be found lower. Its date is barely visible in a white area at the top of the print, where I can see "Easter Good Words. 1908." Although I'd love to find out more, it would be a crime to tear into that aged paper backing which absolutely demonstrates authenticity. From England, this is quite a special find! Framed size is 11 3/4" x 16".
