Charming 1858 Hand-Colored Christmas Print by Pasquier
All the delights of a Victorian Christmas are here: the candle-lit tree, the heap of toys, the garland 'round the picture, the tankards on the sideboard, the warmth and friends and family and, of course, the beautifully dressed and appropriately awed children.

Titled "The Christmas Tree", this is a truly gorgeous scene - drawn by James Abbott Pasquier (who would illustrate novels of Thomas Hardy), and then vividly hand-colored by someone exceedingly talented. It's probably from the "London Illustrated News" and there's printing on the reverse, but it doesn't show through. These were published to be framed and enjoyed.

Condition of this print is excellent and it's already nicely matted to a size of about 13 1/4" x 11", with a visible image area about 9" x 7". Provenance is an antiques shop in East Anglia. If interested in another scene of Victorian family festivity, please see our "Magic Lantern" print from the same source and era. They'd be lovely framed to match and hung together.

There's no charge for U.S. shipping and gift wrap is always available when desired. Please e-mail to confirm availability, order or request more photos. Thanks for looking!
