"Impressionists Side by Side: Their Friendships, Rivalries and Artistic Exchanges" This splendid coffee table book produced in Italy for Knopf presents gorgeous Impressionist pictures, along with details of the artists' relationships and photographs from their private albums. It's a fascinating way to approach the subject, since their lives were so intertwined. Art history prof Barbara Erlich White is the author of this 292-page hardback volume, which cost $65 at publication. Weighing in at more than four pounds, it measures 12 x 10.2 x 1 inches.
