| Japanese artist Mori Tetsuzan (1775-1841) was the adopted son of renown Edo period artist Mori Sosen. Mori Tetsuzan is as artistically distinguished as his father, particularly in his exquisite depictions of the Macaque Monkey, an important symbolic animal in Shinto-Buddhist rites. Signed with Tetsuzan's personal mark. Twelve and one half inches in width by thirty inches in height. Very Good Condition. Framed. The expressive face of the Macaque Monkey looks upward longingly to the flight of the beautiful Butterfly. | |||||||||
