$1900

From England where Georgian jewelry was at its pinnacle, we have found just the perfect color of amethyst pastes to encircle the neck with a stream of color. This necklace has many popular characteristics of the period. Paste making was an important art form used in jewels and collected by royalty all over europe. Pinchbeck, the first fine gold substitute, never loses its color and never tarnishes. It was invented by a watchmaker of the same name, who became world famous for the metal. Pinchbeck was valued highly and, therefore, the inventor kept his formula a guarded secret. Today, the true pinchbeck has become a rare collectible found in museums and in historic jewelry collections. The richest illustrations of the art of paste jewelry is in the recent book "Georgian Jewelry 1714 - 1830" written by Ginny Dawes and Olivia Collings. Page 115 has a necklace of similar design to ours. The same setting design is used for many necklaces in this book. Another lush exhibit of Georgian Paste necklaces is in the film "The Young Victorian" about Queen Victoria in her earliest days before and when she took the throne. It is opening this week, the first week in November. The jewelry is breathtaking and of marvelous quality. This neckace is 15 3/4 in. long. Each link is 1/2 inch high. It is original although at one time it was made of two like strands. As jewelry was passed from generation to generation, jewels would be divided so that two sisters or nieces would each inherit equally. Condition is fine.

Not one but two Georgian gold and Garnet Bracelets each of which contains deep and lively wine colored, folied garnets set in a floral pattern. Georgian cut garnets differ from late Victorian stones. The colors are unique to the early 19th century. The stones are flat cut rather than faceted. They are foiled to enhance the glow of the red in a time when electric light was still unknown. The backs of the settings are enclosed in gold. English earrings from Queen Victoria's earliest year reigning her nation, celebrate the age with golden spirals and granulated orbs of gold. The earrings, practically weightless, appear to be golden lace. Their form, an elongated bell, is narrow at top and wider at bottom, culminating in a scalloped edge that suspends multiple golden dangling beads. As noted in the second image, the reverse of the earring is the same as the front with a shepherds hook ear wire. The gold work, textured and unique, purposely makes the earrings light on the ear and easy to wear. These chandelier earrings are festive and feel like a party is their due. Length 2 3/4 in. Sold. Thank you.

We imagine that many touching memories come along with this georgian 18kt repousse wedding band that was cherished and carefully preserved in fine condition for over a period of 180 years. The ring is encrusted with flowers and leaves of varied shapes that wind completely around the circumference. The outer edges are softly scalloped to suggest the shapes of the flowers and leaves. Repousse , a method of working gold by punching, beating or pressing the designs out from the back of the jewel, removes no gold in the process. The texture of the design is varied with small pin dots and curving lines. When the correct flower is discovered and pressed, it opens a mysterious secret compartment on the inner circle of the ring. The date of marriage of the original owners is engraved inside the ring clearly showing 1829. English in origin. Size 7 1/2 to 7 3/4 Excellent condition

$2875

Natural oval turquoise stones are warmly nestled amongst the brilliant white shine of small diamonds giving the sense of fire and ice. The diamonds are rose cuts that emit so much light, they seem to be brilliant cut stones. The backs of all stone settings are open. Metal does not show between stones as the diamonds are closely set. The ring band is a sleek, knife edged sweep of gold with just enough pink in it to keep the feeling warm. This ring dates to c.1880-1890. It was made in England. The style is transitional, not typical victorian nor typical edwardian. It is a style that predicts future change. The condition is perfect. At present it is size 7. It can be sized to fit a smaller finger.

$6800

Cascading old cut diamonds glitter like stars from leaves, flowers, vines and sprays in these chandelier georgian elongated earrings. The earrings have movement on the ears, a feeling of femininity for one who wears them. They are not felt otherwise as they have not got a weight that imposes. Many georgian period earrings are light in weight as they were large and the availablility of gold was not endless. The ear drops are made in three sections, each of which is flexible. At the bottom spray are suspended three small floral drops, each holding a small twinkle of a diamond. The drops tremble. What we find marvelous about these earrings is that the stones are of a size that enables the owner to wear the earrings from morning to evening gala, with denim to decollete. Totally original with the exception of the ear wires which are shepherds hooks which have been flawlessly changed as style demanded. England c.1820 - 30. Length 2 1/2 lovely inches. Width 1 inch. Condition, Excellent.
