This four stone diamond ring, both pretty and delicate, makes a beautiful statement for a petite woman who wants something different and not over powering. The ring is Edwardian and dates to c. 1900. The diamonds, well faceted, are sparkling old mine diamonds. Two stones are approximately a half carat each. The smaller stones are approximately .25 each. As the diamonds are deeply set and have not been removed from their prong settings, we may be underestimating their carat weight by .25 ct. One side of the 15k gold band curves up to a smaller diamond while the other side curves down to its diagonal opposite. The stones have no outstanding imperfections with the naked eye or loup. I estimate the color to be H/I. Currently size 7 1/2 and can easily be size

Scottish agates in diamond shape, circles, and curved teardrops are matched like a quilt in this museum quality antique brooch that defies the look of time. This is a breathtaking piece of scottish workmanship. The citrine is rich and deeply saturated in a honey tone. The varied agates are smooth, polished and placed to bring out their unique color and texture. Notice that the silver setting around the faceted citrine repeats the curves of the agate pattern. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert brought scottish tradition to England. They built Balmoral, their castle in Scotland where they would visit and dress in scottish attire. As the queen does, so do the people. Scottish jewelry became popular in and out of court. This example of scottish tradition is a treat for the collector or anyone who enjoys a piece of jewelry that brings a touch of drama to the occasion. Measurements: 1 1/4 in. Width 2 1/2 in. Condition is pristine

An undulating appliqued silver design weaves its way across the front of this antique silver cuff bracelet in curving lines that surround gold engraved tulips and leaves. Rivers of stamped dots form scallops close to the edges of the bracelet front. Ferns curve from the corners. Small geometric squares holding what look like miniature heiroglyphics fill the corners. This abundant patterning is not busy. It is lush, beautifully accomplished, highly textured and cheerful. The bracelet seems to be a silversmith's stream of consciousness.
England did not create much silver jewelry in the victorian era due to the tarnish that darkened it from the burning of coal. In the last 40 years of the 19th century, Queen Victoria wore silver and gave gifts of silver jewelry. This was enough to bring the attention of the populace to the beauty of this previously forsaken metal. The silver industry flourished. The bracelet is hallmarked. It is English c. 1860 - 1880. It is in perfect condition. Height is 1 1/4 in. Inner width is 2 in. Fits a wrist sized 6 to 6 1/4 inches.

Shakudo is a Japanese traditional metal art which was used in the Samurai era by esteemed artisans who crafted swords, weapons and armor. Examples of this metal work can be seen now at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York where "The Art of the Samurai" is now on exhibit. The material known as shakudo is a metal alloy of copper containing 3% to 5% gold. When the Samurai class was abolished in the late 19th century, shakudo artists turned to crafting decorative items.
Shakudo is not often seen in our marketplace. It is however, well known by collectors of this specific art form and by those who study antique jewelry .
The ring we picture is a 1 1/4 long oval of japanese art set in a silver mount. Notice the grace of the apron below and the miniscule detail of the rim holding the shakudo metal work. The oval form of mixed metal art (shakudo) set into this ring was at one time a kashira, a decorative element which was set into the very top of a samurai sword handle.
A garden of gold and silver flowers, are applied to the beautifully textured blue black background.
The ring is comfortable, durable and lovely. It was made circa 1870 . It fits a size 7. Can be sized in either direction.

We offer an antique silver bracelet hallmarked Birmingham England 1933. The width is dramatic. Engraved on the front is a bountiful landscaped garden bordered by swags and various dotted patterns. At the sides the pattern changes to geometry where triangles contain a pattern of crosshatches. The clean lines of this geometry form a neat contrast to the foliate overall design. Although the width is 1 3/4 inches, the cuff is extremely comfortable. It brings elegance to the usual daytime sweater. We find it appealing to wear a cuff over a sweater sleeve. It shows off beautifully. Fits a 6 in. wrist over the cuff of a sweater or a bare wrist of 6 1/2 inches.

Once Queen Victoria reintroduced silver jewelry by wearing it and gifting it to others, English manufacturing of silver jewelry blossomed. These cuffs, or bangle bracelets blossom as well, with gold flowers and leaves in a period known as the aesthetic period in art when japanese art influenced european design. Like wedding cakes, these bracelets are adorned to the hilt. Here at "Glorious" we love them. We will let the close up photos do the talking regarding the lush quality of workmanship and design. The bracelet on the right is in the shape of a crown. Appliques of gold cover the front of both. The backs are plain silver in fine condition with very light wear. Chose one or both. One on each wrist is an amazing and elegant look that make the spirits soar. Each fit a medium wrist even over a sweater sleeve. Those with small wrists wear them above their sweater sleeves which is striking and beautiful. Measurements: Right Bracelet bottom 2 3/8, top, 2 5/8. Height 1 7/8. Left bracelet. Width 2 3/8. Be they sunflowers, chrysanthemums or daisies, flowers they be along with buds, vines, and climbing leaves, all in one lush pair of earrings from the days of Napolean's march into Germany. This pair of earrings can be seen on page 23 of the marvelous expert book entitled "Georgian Jewelry".
The Napoleanic war caused disaster to both France and Germany and wiped out the nations treasuries. The government of Germany and later that of France, turned to their people for gold. Citizens turned in gold jewels for iron. We offer a rare example of Berlin Iron Jewelry. Though 200 years old, these earrings are amazing. It is amazing to have them intact and amazing that history comes to us in wearable form to care for and treasure. Iron earrings are extremely rare. Museums have iron jewelry, a few textbooks have examples, but even texts have very few photographs of ironwork earrings. Our earrings are mirrored at the bottom. Iron flowers add a cheerful touch to the mirrors and to the earrings at top. Georgian period earrings are most often made with wires that enter the ear from the back and lock in the front. We have had our expert jeweler change the ear wires to shepherds hooks as they are more comfortable for our American clients. This does not affect the value or rarity of the item.
The earrings measure 3 1/8 in long. At their widest point at the bottom, they are 1 inch wide. At the top buds, the width is 1/2 inch. Condition is Excellent.
