| Styled in the shape of weights or dumbells. These double-sided cufflinks and their companion studs are executed in platinum and 15kt gold. The bars that bear the weights are gold whereas the weights are platinum. The connecting links are 15kt gold and are original. They hold the cufflinks with just the right amount of flexibility so that they are comfortable and easy to insert into a shirt buttonhole. Cufflinks, a book written by Susan Jonas and Marilyn Nissenson, explains that cufflinks, as we now know them, first appeared in the end of the 18th century. These links date to c.1900-1920 and are English. It would be a difficult task to research all of the styles and meanings of the mass of cufflinks that were made. Many were attributed to personal whimsy. Whatever the style, the variations are fascinating. They have always been a fashion statement for a man’s wardrobe, along with being functional and an indicator of his sense of style. English, with original box. | ||
