| Worked like a tapestry c. 1840, tiny to medium sized lustrous natural pearls are woven to a mother of pearl back to create the earrings you see here. This example of Victorian seed pearl earrings is unlike any other we have discovered. Joyous and romantic, they form crowns, leaves, flowers, berries and bells. Today, when time is money, consider the hours that were passed stitching individual pearls to parures of bracelets, brooches, earrings and necklaces for young victorian women. Seed pearl jewelry was associated with young woman, often brides, but the genre was not relegated to one age group. Were they made for one special lady? We would love to know the story.
