The underside has the impressed Kinkozan mark. I was told by an expert in Japanese that the red seal states that it was painted by the factory's "First great master painted this". This is a very rare Cloisonne enamel Incense Burner. It is probably the only one in existence. In fact there are only a handful of cloisonne vases done in this style that are in collections. Though unsigned, it is clearly the work of Hattori or Kawade, both being Meiji Era Imperial artists. It is done in the "Nagare-gusuri" or drip glaze style invented by Kawade Shibataro. Kawade is the one who we believe created this piece. The lustrous enamel is done in rainbow of colors with a predo ...click for details
