This is a wonderful carved ivory box done in a very high relief design. The four Snow Monkeys appear to be arguing over a piece of fruit and all have different expressions. The insides of the open mouths even show all the teeth, tongue, and epiglottis. There is a tiny chip on the underside bottom and a little warping/shrinkage on the edge of the lid. The box measures 8 1/4 inches long , 3 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches tall. We are not sure how old the piece is but are fairly certain it is at leas ...click for details
