| This is a very fine piece of Japanese Meiji Era Satsuma. It was created and signed by the Meizan workshop. It is thought that many of the artists that worked there went on to work for Yabu Meizan. The early rich gold is used. Scenes of butterflies, children, and schools of fish, all circle around the vase. At the top an assortment of medallions, that each encase a different scene, telling a story of some kind. Rich, very thick enamels used throughout. A fine gold wash of beads peek in and about the scenes. Some slight wear to the top gold rim, otherwise in outstanding condition. The vase measures 5 3/8 inches tall. | ||||||||||||
