| This is a superb pair of Japanese Satsuma long necked vases. Signed on the base Seikozan, these are early and outstanding, using the Mercury firing that makes the gold so rich and intense. The body has a continuous scene of men and children in outdoor scene. Realistic faces, colorful and gilt robes, rock formations, trees and tiny wash gold beading throughout. The shoulder areas have a rich brocade decorations, tassel and flowerheads. Lots of gold and gold beading used here. The long necks have a profuse assortment of colorful butterflies in various sizes. The very top of the neck has more rich enameled geometric and brocade decoration. This same decoration, but larger and more detailed is at the very base of each vase as well. The work is similar to Meizan and Yabu pieces. These vases stand 7 1/4" tall. Condition is perfect on this fabulous pair. | ||||||||||
