Exceptional Japanese Satsuma Vase - Kinkozan
This is a very well done early Meiji Era Satsuma Vase signed Kinkozan, The intense work is reminiscent to that of Yabu Meizan, Meizan or Seikozan. This is because of the rich and intricate decorations. The vase features a wide band of well done women and children that encircle the wide bottom area of the vase. A tiny wash of gold beading on this ground. It is divided by another band of rich enameled brocade and geometric designs. Further up the vase is a unique gilded ground with scrolling vines with small more well done children mixed in an about. The top shoulder area has an elegant ribbon or folded scroll with many intricate patterns. Formal foliate scroll very intricate, at the base and top rim area. Much use of gold on this unique and very superbly done piece. The vase measures 6 1/2" tall. Condition is very excellent on this piece with only some slight wear to the gold top. This is a wonderful early piece from this great factory.
