| This is a masterpiece of work and detail. It is a lidded jar with impressed Kinkozan mark. The detail and intricate patterns are to detailed to fully describe. The work is as fine as you will ever see. As good as Sozan or Nakamura Baikei. It features different horizontal patterns that circle the body of the jar. To begin, there is a wide brocade, tapestry and geometric band of scroll at the top rim area. There are also scrolling vines with thick enameled gold Paulownia leaves. These designs are colorful, but very rich and thick in gold. Further down are hundreds of people in different positions, scrolls, tables, and artwork. A tiny tiny wash of gold beading peeks out wherever possible on this intricate scene. This is separated from the next masterful design by a thick gold scroll of Greek Fret. A wide band of fan shaped cartouches that encase people, along with thick enameled flower heads and brocade designs, make up this wide band of work. Under this is another band, this one, with many many children in various postures and Asian artifacts. A gold wash of beads throughout this scene. At the base of the jar,is a formal foliate scroll, again thick rich gold is used. To finish this fabulous piece of art off, is the top lid. It is brilliant, with tiny gold enameled beading and hundreds of tiny butterflies in the background and larger very detailed butterflies in the foreground. Gold relief Chrysanthemum top knob. The jar measures 5 /12“ tall and is 4“ wide. Condition is perfect on this most exceptional piece, except for a nearly impossible to see knob repair. | |||||||||||
