| Excellent Hidasuki Bizen Yunomi by renowned potter Tozo Konishi. This piece has 3 Kanji Japanese character that make this yunomi (tea cup) unique. Mr. Tozo have received several prizes. The most remarkable award: Toyo Kaneshige prize in 1988. Size: 3" (7.5 cm, width) X 2.75" (7 cm, height).To make hidasuki ware, pieces are wrapped in straw soaked in brine (salt water) and placed into saggars prior to firing. During the firing process, the straw burns away, leaving a 'flash' of sodium vapor on the surface of the pot, which causes a slight glaze formation. These glaze flashes turn the light colored stoneware, and show the areas where the straw was in contact with the body. | |||||||||||||||
