Japanese Dry Lacquer Pigeon on a Rock, The Bird of Peac
This sculpture is made with Kanshitsu (dry lacquer tecnique).
Kanshitsu tecnique uses papier-mache, gypsum or clay etc only as a mold for the lacpuer.
Unlike lacpuerware made from caved wood, Kanshitsu objects are extremely light and thin, allowing delicate shapes and variety of unique designs.
Kanshitsu tecnique used to produce Buddhist images from in the Nara period in Japan.

Measurements: 7 7/8" (20cm) wide, 4 3/4" (12cm) deep, and 8 5/8" (22cm) tall.

Signed artist name "Hideo" on the bottom.
It is in good condition and comes with original wooden box.
