Lovely Georgian dragee box, circa the early 19th century. These boxes were usually filled with sugared almonds and were often given at weddings. This box features a glass top displaying a white dove holding an envelope with a heart in its beak. It is surrounded by a flower, a heart and what appears to be a flag, all bordered by a circle of flowers. The box is decorated with gilded card around the sides and a marbled card base. Stunning art nouveau celluloid box, dating from the first quarter of the 20th century. The deep crimson box features a gorgeous silver-tinted cameo of a classical woman on the top, with leaves entwined in her flowing hair. On the inside of the lid is pasted a photograph of a woman, dated 1913. The box is covered with a grape and floral motif and is signed on the bottom “T.P. Danbine Paris”. Measures 2 1/4” by 1 3/4”.
