Adorable black velvet Victorian reticule, featuring beaded flowers, embroidered leaves, and crocheted lace edging. Black silk lining; black braided drawstring. Purse is in great condition with just a few loose embroidery stitches lace scallops. Measures 7” by 6”, not including border.

An utterly beautiful cream silk embroidered purse, or reticule, circa 1830. The shield shaped body is edged in pink and decorated with pink silk bows. The drawstrings are pink silk and green velvet, an echo of the pink embroidered flowers and green leaves. Beautiful, all original, and so delicate ? the silk is shattering in several areas and there?s one hole where the gauze lining shows through. But it?s such a great reminder of the beautiful needlework of the time. Measures 8 ?? by 9?.

Beautiful 19th century antique beaded purse, featuring swags of flowers, including pansies and roses, on a yellow ground. Beadwork is in excellent condition; yellow taffeta lining has two pockets; the header is slightly shattered. Missing three fringes. Measures 11 ¼” including fringe by 8 ¼”.

Lovely antique beaded purse, featuring acorns and oak leaves, circa 1830. The colors are wonderful: browns, blue, pink, white and yellow. The beading is in great condition, with just one hole near the top. The header, an early cotton replacement, is shattered and lacks a drawstring. There may have been a fringe at one time. Beaded body measures 5” (header adds another 3”) by 5 ¼”.

Super antique beaded purse, featuring a basket of fruit and flowers on one side, and a floral wreath on the other, circa 1830. The basket is beaded in yellow and gold; grapes and apples and other fruit spill out of it! Blue cotton lining; the header has gone and the blue silk ribbon drawstring is shattered. There are several holes and repairs, the largest about 5/8”, and it is lacking a fringe. But it’s an unusual, lovely piece of early beadwork! Measures 6 ½” by 6”.

What a great piece of early 20th century American history and handicraft: a purse commemorating Lindbergh’s milestone nonstop transatlantic flight in the Spirit of St. Louis, in 1921. The purse is fashioned out of cut steel beads and features a silhouette of the Spirit of St. Louis flying in a blue sky over a sun (with rays) rising over a blue ocean. Incredible!
