Unusual 19th century gold cased fob seal with a domed base fluted above a foliate and scrollwork border and a spiral reeded loop handle. The unusual amethyst matrix features two carved images: a bird in a basket and a gazelle in a crown. The amethyst appears to be a foiled glass stone. Matrix measures 5/8” by ½”; 1” tall. Very good condition: some wear to gold casing.
