Exceptional art nouveau sterling silver brooch, featuring Aphrodite in a swirling sea, circa 1905. The brooch is brilliantly done, starting with it’s shape which is an irregular circle – very organic and natural! The goddess emerges from the waves, bare-breasted, a flower in her flowing hair. From her up stretched hand cascade three small circular forms – I don’t think they’re a part of the wave motif. It’s possible that they represent the golden apples so important in many of her legends. ...click for details
Classic Unger Bros. sterling bracelet, circa 1905, featuring the head of a beautiful woman with long flowing hair. The bracelet is comprised of six die stamped discs with the identical high-relief head, fastened by a lovely repousse heart padlock. Reverse of two links display the Unger Bros. mark. Excellent condition. Measures a shade over 7”.
