The gent wears a brown coast and waistcoat, with a white cravat; he sits before a blue cloudy sky. Face is pale, but expressive. Very good condition. Set into a reddish-brown velvet-lined traveling case. Good condition; some dirt on the underside of the glass and a dark spot on the gilt colored mount. A miniature portrait of a hauntingly beautiful woman, in watercolor on ivory, circa 1760-1780. Her long black hair is down; she wears a décolleté gown trimmed with lace. She’s set in a 14k gold frame, originally a bracelet clasp but converted at an early date to a brooch clasp. There’s some mold on the interior of the glass, visible under magnification, and a split on the reverse near the hinge. Measures 1 ¼” by 1”.

Charming French portrait miniature in watercolor on ivory of a lady, signed “Boissier 1817.” The lady wears a cream dress with lace fichu or chemise with a brooch at the corsage, and a matching lace cap. The reverse features a gorgeous hair picture featuring a sheaf of wheat surrounded by laurels. All this is executed in a tiny circular format – just wonderful!
