Rare mourning ring featuring fine table-work braided hair joined by a gold centerpiece depicting clasped hands, circa 1850-1860. A similar ring is displayed in C. Jeanenne Bell’s 1998 Collector’s Encyclopedia of Hairwork Jewelry. Piece is in mint condition. Initials on back appear to be “CL”. Size is approximately 10 1/2.
Rare Georgian portrait miniature of a young girl, painted on fabric, stitched with hair, and set into a lovely gold brooch frame bordered by delicate seed pearls. The girl is beautifully painted on some sort of silk or cotton weave. She wears a large red hat and décolleté gown, but the most wonderful element is her hair: it is composed of blond hair, stitched into the fabric! Absolutely perfect 19th century gutta percha and 14k gold earrings, in the form of a buckle within a circle. The “buckle” features gold stripes and studs. I don’t think that these were ever worn – they are mint, and look great on! Original 14k gold kidney wires. Measure 1 ¼”.
Elegant sapphire and rose cut diamond cluster ring, circa 1850. The sapphire is surrounded by eight rose cuts; the simple shoulders and band display the head to perfection. Great condition. Size 6 ½.
An unusual 19th century 14k gold lava cameo mask ring with wirework setting and shank. The lava is carved into a grimacing face and set into twisted and knotted gold wire. Large and yet delicate at the same time. Very good condition. Lava carving measures ¾” by 5/8”. Size 9.
Delicate Victorian banded agate and diamond ring, set in 18k gold. The ring features a central sheaf shape set with five diamonds, flanked on each side by four tiny banded agates in a cruciform pattern. Engraved shoulders; marked “18ct”. Great condition; one shoulder shows a bit of wear. Size 7.
Charming Victorian ring in the form of a butterfly set with rubies, pearls and a turquoise, in 14k gold. The head and antenna are in gold, with big carved eyes! The thorax is a ruby; the abdomen a turquoise, and the wings are set with rubies and tiny pearls. The butterfly sits at an angle, as if in flight, and the carved wavy shoulders add wonderfully to the effect! Maker’s mark is “G & W”. Fine condition. Size 7.
Lovely antique bangle in 15k gold set with pearls and rose cut diamonds. The head, or center, consists of a flower with a pearl at the center and diamonds set into silver on gold petals. A swirl of seed pearls surround the flower. Lovely condition; one ding to inside of bracelet; safety chain is missing. Measures 2 ¼” by 1 ¾”.
