Very cool beaded purse or wallet, with cut steel beads decorating a lovely blue silk. Opens to reveal two blue silk pockets, lined with white silk. Condition is good; a very few scattered single beads are missing ; white silk lining has a lipstick stain. Measures 5 Ύ by 3 Ύ.
Wonderful Victorian hand sewn gauze and silk reticule or work bag in warm golden tones. The top half is made of delicate gauze, with a silk ribbon pull-through handle. The bottom is patterned floral silk, edged with faux pearls. Very good condition; ribbon is shattered in spots; top has a few spots of soiling. Measures 6 Ύ by 6 ½.
Stunning and rare antique microbeaded purse depicting an 18th century couple strolling in the country. Their clothing is beautifully detailed, from her wide panniers to his long frock coat. Great condition: one piece of missing fringe; lining needs to be replaced. Measures 7 (including fringe) by 4 ½.
Extremely fine antique hand-woven 2-sided silk tapestry purse, depicting a couple on one side and a lamb on the other. The pair of lovers are reclining in a pastoral setting, she in dishabille; they are pointing to a mirror she holds as he gazes into it. Another mirror (I think its a mirror!) lies in his lap; it looks broken! On the reverse, a lamb lies amid robes, next to a basket of flowers. The artistry, the coloration, the design, are all superb. Fine antique 2-sided tapestry wool purse. On the front: two lovers, she with a basket, wearing a cap; he with a guitar and red high heeled shoes! On the back: a pastoral scene, with tomb or monument amid flowers in the foreground, and a stream and house in the background. Edged in soft leather piping. Lined in cream silk, with change purse and mirror intact. Fine condition: leather edging is worn; lining is torn inside near clasp; slight soiling inside. 7 7/8 by 5 Ύ.
A truly superb antique microbeaded purse featuring an abstract design deriving from either Persian rug motifs or Berlin wool work patterns. The lack of borders surrounding the central medallion -- it is surrounded by flowers and vines instead -- points to the latter. It is a stunning piece composed of richly colored glass beads; Prussian blue for the background, with figures worked in salmon, red, green, cream, and black.
