SOLD

Interesting 18th century beaded coin purse, probably English or French, featuring a pattern of red flowers with green leaves against a gold ground. Construction is similar to sable beadwork, but these beads are much bigger than most sable beading. The lining is a beautiful 18th century silk. Excellent condition. Measures 4” by 3 1/2”.

$50

This little make-do beadwork piece is a mystery to me in two ways – in function and design. My guess is that it’s a pen rest and that the pen nib was intended to sit in the fluted white fixture at one end. The design on one side is a spaniel, but the design looks extremely odd – perhaps a bagpipe? At any rate, it’s a great little piece in good condition – small losses to spaniel, edges and corners. Measures 2 3/8” by 2”.

SOLD

Rare child or doll’s enamel mesh purse from the 1920’s, in pink on a white ground, probably Mandalian. The design is comprised of a bird on a branch surround by a floral border. The purse was obviously well-used: there are losses to a total of five tiles, the frame shows wear, and is could use a clean. Very collectible. Purse measures 3 1/2”.

This is the coolest piece of antique jewelry: a silver ring that unfolds into a bracelet! The head of the ring, which also serves as the bracelet clasp, is navette-shaped and set with turquoises and a central garnet. The ring band unfolds into the circular bracelet – a really great piece. I believe that hallmarks are Austro-Hungarian. Excellent condition. Ring head/clasp measures just over 1” and is roughly a size 5.5. Bracelet is 7 1/2”.

It was love at first sight when I saw this lovely transitional Victorian demi parure comprising a pendant brooch and a pair of earrings . This set has everything: the naturalist aesthetic, beautiful organic materials, and delicate design. Natural themes of flora and fauna were extremely popular with the Victorians, and they are both represented here in the pink lilies surmounted by snakes among the leaves. The materials are consistent with the natural theme: the lilies and floral surmounts ...click for details
