Georgian portrait miniature in watercolor on ivory of a gentleman in military dress, identified as Lord Dundonald circa 1789. The gent wears a blue military jacket with gold epaulettes and buttons, and a white waistcoat and jabot. Set in a lacquered wood frame with a gilt metal mount. Good condition; one tiny nick to the background at one cheek; frame a bit bowed, the cornucopia and ring loose (with adjacent crack); some where to mount. Sight size 2 1/4” by 1 3/4”.

Fine and fabulous Georgian portrait miniature cut silhouettes of a boy and a girl, facing each other, bronzed and highlighted and laid on card. The detail is fantastic, from her frilly and beribboned bonnet to his ruffled collar and gold buttons. Super bird’s eye maple veneer frame. All in very good condition: some staining to paper background, some nicks to frame and staining to paper backing. Measures 7 1/2” by 6”; sight size is 4 7/8” by 3 1/8”.

Late 19th century Continental School portrait miniature in watercolor on ivory of a young girl picking cherries. She wears a white dress and blue apron, from which the cherries spill. She's even slung then over her ears like earrings! Set into an engraved gilt metal mount, which would probably have been set into a frame or box. Good condition: there’s a little light mold and a few tiny spots of dirt. Measures 3’ by 2”; sight size is 1 1/2” by 1”.

Wonderful portrait miniature in watercolor on ivory of a gentleman, by Jeremiah Meyer, R.A. (Anglo-German, 1735-1789). The gentleman’s hair is powdered, curled and worn en queue. He wears a powder blue coat, a white waistcoat with gold embroidered border, a lace frilled shirt and a white stock. One of the finest miniaturists of the 18th century, Meyer was born in Germany to an artistic family and moved to England when he was fourteen. Charming English Provincial School portrait miniature in watercolor on ivory of a young woman, circa 1820. She wears a lace cap, a white gown and a black floral shawl and sits against a dark sky background. The painting is in good condition, with some dirt at the edges and two spots of water damage at two and three o’clock. Set in a red leather traveling case, which is a complete mess: split in half, glass loose, lining shattered. Measures 3 3/4” by 3”.
