| Portrait miniature in watercolor on ivory of a beautiful young woman, attributed to American artist Clarissa Russell (1809-1854). The inscription on the back identifies the portrait as “Susan Smith Heath painted by Mrs. Russell"; a label on the reverse reads "Susan Smith Heath sister of Sarah A. Smith Hibbard, painted by a Mrs. Russell, Boston." Ser in a rectangular brass frame marked “Foster Bros. Boston.” Condition is good; there has been some retouching to the lower right and left edge. Measures 2 ¾" by 2 ¼". | |||||||||
