| Charming French portrait miniature in watercolor on ivory of a lady, signed “Boissier 1817.” The lady wears a cream dress with lace fichu or chemise with a brooch at the corsage, and a matching lace cap. The reverse features a gorgeous hair picture featuring a sheaf of wheat surrounded by laurels. All this is executed in a tiny circular format – just wonderful! Andre Claude Boissier (1760-1833) is mentioned by Blattel and Benezit as a drawing teacher and miniaturist who worked on ivory. Set in glazed gilt metal locket frame. Very good condition. Measures just under 1” in diameter. | |||||
