| Superb 19th century folk art box, probably German, featuring carved fretwork and inscribed with the initials “TN” surrounded by two squirrels! The front depicts a heart flanked by griffins; the sides are decorated with oak leaves. Lined with green velvet. The remains of silver and gold wash lend the box a great patina! Very good condition; one squirrel is missing its ears. Measures 6 ½” by 4” by 4 ¼”. | |||||||||
