| An extremely fine enamel on copper miniature portrait of the Calmady children, after Sir Thomas Lawrence, 1824. This portrait is painted (and signed) by Austrian artist Anastasius Huebner (1789-1856), who is listed in Schidlof as a painter on ivory and porcelain. This is a masterpiece of enameling, a perfect miniaturization of one of Lawrence’s best works, featuring brilliant coloration and incredible detail. Signed along the right edge “A Hubner.” Counter enameled, and set in a finely crafted contemporary 19th century style gold brooch frame. Great condition; a few small scratches to background at right. Portrait measures 1 ¾” by 1 ½”. | ||||||
