| A charming portrait miniature in watercolor on ivory of a young girl, by British artist Thomas Redmond, circa 1775. The child wears a white dress with a large pink sash; she has curly blond hair and bright blue eyes. Born circa 1745, Redmond was the son of a clergyman and apprenticed as a housepainter before giving it up to move to London to study art. He exhibited at the Free Society of Artists, 1762-1771, and at the Royal Academy, 1775-1783. Very good condition; there’s a chi to the edge of the glass at 4 o’clock; very slightly faded. Set in the original gilt metal brooch frame. Measures 1 1/2". | ||||||
