| This Georgian mourning brooch has it all: it’s beautifully executed in hair and watercolor, and features a slew of wonderful symbols. The weeping willow denotes grief; the column with the urn on top symbolizes memory and the little dog loyalty to the deceased. The broken bow, arrow and quiver at the base of the tomb represent mortality; the flaming crowned hearts depict the now immortal love between the deceased and the woman at the right who weeps for him, as she hold a shield with his initials. Set in a plain gold brooch setting. Very good condition: there’s a little dust under the glass and the frame is a bit dinged. Measures 2 1/8”. | |||||
