| Beautiful Georgian mourning brooch, in sepia and hair on ivory. Set in low-carat gold, the scene depicts a gentleman weeping at a tomb overhung by a willow, the symbol of mourning. The tomb’s dedication reads: “Weep not for me but for yourself”. The reverse is inscribed “Wm/Jackson/Obt 22 Dec./1787/aet 72”. Very good original condition. Measures 1” by 5/8”. | |||||
