$495.00

A handsome example of early ironstone, or English stoneware, this piece bears the blue underglaze mark of Hicks, Meigh and Johnson who used this mark from 1822-36. The striking brick red/orange and deep blue floral pattern, highlighted with gold was evidently just known as pattern #13 (see the reverse mark). It measures 19" long, 15" wide, and is 2" high at the edge. There is normal rubbing to the gold and some wear to the pattern from normal use. There are no chips, cracks or r ...click for details

The foliate gadroon design of this two-piece dresser set is very Louis XVI in feeling. Each brush measures approximately 7" long. There is discoloration to the bristles, and general light wear to the silver tops, but they are still functional.. The set, made in France (tiny French hallmarks I couldn't photograph) date from c. 1890, and are a lovely addition to a dressing table.

$65.00

Measuring 9" long x 1" wide, this well-used Japanese paper knife is just the sort of trinket I have always found fascinating; although obviously fashioned to sell for a modest price, it still bears the marks of masterful design, and charming detail. There is some small bit of corrosion on the blade, and some bit of clear lacquer, which could probably be cleaned. I leave this for the buyer, since I have a terrible record for "improving" anything - always make it worse.

$975.00

Hewn out of a wonderful, variegated lapis lazuli stone, this antique Chinese brush washer was de-accessioned from an East Coast museum in the mid 20th Century. Sitting on the stand, the ensemble measures 3 1/2" in height, 5 1/4" wide, and 4" deep. The base is some sort of exotic wood (not rosewood, I think) and has traces of parcel gilt in the carving. The base was carved especially to accommodate the brush washer, and has a still-visible inventory number written in black ink on t ...click for details

$575.00

Here is a custom-made Tiffany & Co. sterling silver wine coaster measuring 4 3/4" across and 1 1/4" high. It has a mahogany base, and the sterling silver frame encloses six dies used for stationery on the yacht Viking (at least that is my theory). It dates from the era of John C Moore II, and is in excellent condition with only the slightest bend on the edge.

The bowl is in superb condition, only some crazing. The lid has a repair done in the 1930's -40's which is only "adequate" quality, but with the restoration white enamels showing yellowing with age. All a bit fatigued, but serviceable. c. 1870 - 1950.
